Nov. 4th, 2004 01:31 pmI found out (or remembered again) yesterday that blind-nailing a hardwood floor is pretty much like playing guitar. You think too much - you bend the nail. The concentration has to be just so. If you do things by hand, there is plenty of opportunity to practice concentration! Which brings me to the question of whether machines, while helping us (saving time), are at the same time robbing us of essential experiences.
On another note, I might be going insane. On the way to the train station a little old lady told me "There's going to be a big wind, it's going to blow all the leaves in our faces". I smiled politely. About five seconds later I decided to check my sanity and looked back - she was not there. DISAPPEARED! There was nowhere she could have gone!
