It's finally time to comment on Oleg Timofeyev's last CD, "the Acrobatic Dance", music by Pavlov-Azancheyev, played on the 7-string guitar.
The music is very varied, so I think everyone will find something to their liking. There are neo-baroque, neo-classical, neo-romantic (or just romantic?) and modern pieces.
So far I had only heard Oleg play the 18th and 19th century repertoire; his sound is quite different (appropriately so) on these modern pieces. I even fooled myself that it was the gypsy influence - as usual, my brain jumped ahead of my ears.
I'm going to be short and restrict myself to the only meaningful comment that I can provide: Oleg has definitely put this composer on my radar. There are three to four pieces on the CD that I am itching to learn.
